Protect your driver's license

NYC Traffic Tickets

In the five boroughs of New York City, traffic tickets are handled by the Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB).  There is no "plea bargaining," meaning you cannot reduce the amount of points on an issued ticket.  We fight all traffic tickets on your behalf to get you the best possible outcome

License Points

NYS is updating the points system in 2026.  Now, your license can be suspended after accumulating 10 points in a 24 month period.  Accumulating just 6 points can trigger the driver's responsibility fee - a costly fine from DMV that continues to accrue with additional points.

Speeding

Speeding tickets can be worth 3 - 11 points and can seriously impact your license.  In the NYC the default speeding limit is just 25mph when not otherwise posted.

Cellphone and Mobile Device Tickets

Mobile device tickets will soon be 6 points for each violation.  Often, simply having the device in your hand is enough to warrant a ticket.  You do not need to be in conversation on your phone.

Passing a stopped school bus

This violation will soon be worth 8 points on your license, an increase from the 5 points it used to be.  The state is cracking down on this violation in an effort to better protect children.

Disobeying a traffic control device

This is a catch-all violation often written to indicate that you disobeyed a pavement marking or sign in some way.  The officer will sometimes write this ticket in conjunction with a second violation for improper turn or failure to yield to pedestrian.
